About Me

Hi 👋 I'm Shannon.

Meet the human at the centre.

I help small businesses and organisations hand the busywork to AI. My whole career - operations, HR, governance and risk - has been one question, asked a hundred different ways: how do we get this done right?

The story so far

People and operations by career, plus a love of tech.

This story begins way back in high school, where I used to play around with graphic design and coding HTML websites from scratch (showing my age!) and came top of my class in year 12 IT.

That knowledge is now entirely obsolete - but my love of tech never left. I started out working in the telecommunications industry, and then found my career pulled toward operations, governance, risk and people - across education, not-for-profits and government. For the record, part of my week still lives in the non-profit sector.

Summed up it's been the perfect training for running Sqylark. Across all of those roles, the biggest question I would ask myself each day: "how do we make sure this gets done right?" AI adds a new dimension to that for sure, but a good back office is an operations and HR problem - and that's my home ground.

When I first started Sqylark, the joke kind of wrote itself, because the person who had always kept everyone's programs running as a career was suddenly the whole org chart. So my lifelong love of tech and learning finally got its own role: I taught myself how to code, shipped a SaaS solo, and gave the busywork proper job descriptions so I could get my time back. Now my business largely runs itself:

  • A SaaS app built from scratch - shipped solo, no dev team.
  • 450+ founders helped to put AI to work - in their voice, under their control.
  • An AI office carrying the day-to-day, right now - while I do the parts I love.
  • 0 employees - well, human ones anyway!

That's what I build now - for founders, and for mission-led teams like the ones I've spent my career inside: the operation carried. The human judgement kept. The hours back in your calendar.

Hand the busywork over. Keep humanness at the centre.

How I work

Where I stand.

01

Human judgement stays at the centre.

The tech drafts, prepares, sorts. It never decides. Your judgement, your voice and your name stay on every call - that's designed in, not bolted on.

02

What repeats, you get to hand over.

Not the whole role - just the parts that don't need a person's judgement, and never the parts that do. If a tool costs you more Sundays than it saves, it's not a tool - it's a hobby. Everything here is built to hand tasks over, not to decide which work matters and which doesn't.

03

AI belongs to all of us, not just the tech crowd.

Some of you have never opened an AI tool. Some of you want to learn to code properly. Both belong here - plain English if that's what you need, as much depth as you want if that's what you're after.

One last thing

A note, from me to you.

If you've read this far, I'd guess two things: there's a business you care about, and the running of it is swallowing the point of it.

So here's what I want you to know. You don't need to become technical. You don't need another subscription you manage like a pet. The busywork eating your week is exactly the kind of work that can be handed over - properly, safely, in your voice - and the part only you can do is the part you get back.

Whenever you're ready, I'm here.

So - ready when you are

Let's hand it over.

Ready-made AI staff, an hour of direction, or a workshop for the whole team - there's a door for exactly where you're at. Pick one and I'll meet you there.
